The Epic Games Store has been giving away free PC games every week--no strings attached--since the storefront launched in late 2018. As of now, we know the program will run until at least the end of 2020. It's pretty straightforward; every Th
ursday at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, Epic offers one, two, or occasionally even three games completely free of charge. To claim the games, you simply need to register for a free Epic account and enable two-factor authentication, which Epic recently added as a requirement to help users bolster their account security. After registering and claiming your games, they are yours to keep in your digital library forever.

From now until June 11 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, Epic users can snag Overcooked. It breaks the recent tradition of Epic handing out massive AAA hits, but Overcooked is a very good couch co-op game that offers fun for the whole family. It earned an 8/10 in GameSpot's Overcooked review.
"Overcooked contains all the necessary ingredients for a truly excellent co-op game," critic Scott Butterworth wrote. "Stress is always balanced out by feelings of accomplishment and progression, and its gameplay requires a mix of smart planning, consistent communication, and some level of dexterity to execute plans effectively. And of course, the cuteness keeps it feeling light and fun, which helps you not hate your friends when they fail to take a pan off the burner in time."
Next week's free game at Epic
Epic typically reveals what PC users have to look forward to next week when a new freebie goes live. Once again, that isn't true this week due to the ongoing Mega Sale. Instead, Epic has teased a fifth "Mystery Game" and started a countdown clock that will tick down until the June 11 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET unlock time. A leaked list had turned out to be accurate until this week--Ark: Survival Evolved was rumored to be this week's free game--so all bets are off for next week's free game. We'll just have to wait for it to unlock.
