Amen. People out there writing and casting shows now probably have a list like: 1 black female, 1 gay half black male, 1 Asian family, a lesbian couple with a kid etc, and none of it has anything to do with telling a good story. It’s actually just starting to be really distracting because it’s all about pushing a political agenda. I don’t think anyone’s gonna come out as a winner in this.

Ha! I think the same thing. I mean, I've got nothing against stories about these people, but as long as the focus is on story. There are great movies out there centered on characters who are gay or black or whatever, but they work because they're about their struggles as human beings, not where they go to bed at night and so on.
It is distracting. Personally, I tend to turn off anything that reeks of agenda-pushing. And no, I don't think anyone will win this, either. These are just weapons to divide us further, because as long as you have an enemy, you are subdued.
