Real Truth Now
There used to be a set of rules over the game of love and sex in the workplace. both men and women agreed to play by that set of rules: women would push their tits up with bras and let their cleavage hang unnaturally out of the tops of their shirts, and men would take note and let their boners take charge.
Everyone got part of what they wanted: women got compliments, low-level job promotions, and dinner and jewelry (but not equality and respect), and men got to beat off in the restroom and the occasional office affair (but not enough to satisfy their base biological urges and stop them from being the same sexualized pigs after work.)
and then one day society said in unison "that set of rules suck for women, so we're holding everyone with penises accountable to a new set of standards retroactively. Surprise!!"
and the women didn't put their tits back in their blouses because it was getting them the things that they wanted, but they told the men if they get boners at work, they will be outed, and if they had gotten boners in the past, that they will be losing their jobs.
and men all across the nation who work in office environments quaked in their boots as the McCarthyesque media started printing story after story of sexual monsters, and countless lives were destroyed in the court of public opinion. corporations threw employees with penises under the bus as soon as an allegation was made, lest they have to face expensive lawsuits and their stock value be damaged. Even the good guys who truly respect women, saw their work lives flash before their lives, out of fear of which acts of courting in the workplace might have gone unrequited and reported to the newly formed House Committee on Perversive Activities.
I'm all for cleaning up our act, but I feel strongly that we need start fresh with a new set of rules that applies equally to all employees. We need to stop pretending that human biology doesn't play a huge role in the actions of both sides. We need to stop pretending that there aren't a huge number of game players in the workplace that are whoring themselves out for pleasure and advancement. As long as we keep arguing that only one gender has responsibilities to change their behavior, as long as we tell women that accenting their cleavage and legs at work plays no role in what happens next, then the cycle of abuse and control will continue.
We need to remove overt displays of sexuality from the workplace. If we are going to fire men for making lewd comments, then we need to fire women for using their sexuality to court favor. If we are going to condemn men for trying to pick up women in the workplace, then we also need to condemn every woman who has ever flirted and eventually taken their clothes off for someone they met in the workplace. The only way this is ever going to work, is if we make fundamental changes in how we judge sexuality in the workplace: Men need to put their dicks back in their pants. Women need to put their tits back in their blouses. Let's get back to work. We need to stop empowering the biological string of dominoes to start cascading, because once we get to that point, it's too late.
