The main problem countries and governments don't like it because they will have problems controlling the population with TV, radio and newspapers.
UN wanted to adopt international language Esperanto for European Union. But it didn't work, because Germany was against it.
League of Nations, that was before United Nations wanted to adopt it after WWI and it also failed, because France was against it.
Throughout the human history the language of the world is the language of the most powerful nation, currently it's English.
Nobody wants to study an international language even though it's as easy language to learn as Esperanto.
It is an easy language to learn, but as any language it is better to learn with a teacher in a class.
There are no courses in the USA universities for Esperanto. Europe and China provide courses to learn Esperanto.
Internet helps to learn Esperanto with Duolingo, but it's not real people.
Esperanto has a culture, but no country. Governments don't support it, because countries have their own languages. The language of the country is its culture and makes the people proud of their country.
Currently, the people of one country learn the language of their own country and one of the closest country. Or they learn English, as currently it is an international language. In the USA there is no official language, but it's not true. The USA has English as the first language and Spanish as a second language. Most products in the store have English on one side of the box and Spanish on the other.
Esperanto is a great idea, so only Esperanto would need to be learned in addition to you own language. And only spies needed to learn the language of the other country they need to spy on. But people can't agree.
There is no Esperanto TV only some translated movies and clips. And an Internet radio Esperanto station has only songs, no news or talks, it's a joke. Even though even terrorists have their own TV. It is sad.
Maybe people of the world should create an artificial country for Esperanto? There is one example - Israel. Not a very good example, because the country was build on by religion and Jews. But there was a very small portion of the population that talked in Hebrew, and there was no Israel for Jews before 1948.
