When I try to write these days, I get lost. My brain feels like a white sheet: a plain white sheet. Then , I realized I could write just about anything as though I was in a real life conversation. I have been trying that and it has been working out well. The only downside is that sometimes, I really don’t have much to say. I just want to talk a little and post it. Another downside is the fact that talking when you don’t want to, might make you say what you never planned to.
For all the reasons of the downsides stated in the paragraph, I believe it is better for a blogger not to write until there is something educating to write about. There are multiple exceptions to that rule though, you can still say something that is not pre-meditated and yet, pass on some really good nuggets. Also, being casual in expression eases both the reader and even the writer.
Gone are the days of headache reading. Have you ever read a book that only taught you new vocabularies and nothing else and if you were to be asked what you gained from the book, your story will just be a melodrama of migraine-close headaches and discovery of some really archaic words that can only be found in certain dictionaries with of precise editions. I was a curious child that liked reading everything , most especially those headache books I just described. So, I am practically speaking from experience.
I am not a professional writer, I just write. So, some things still make me get wowed about the use of words and the figurative aspect of literature. Some of these things might mean nothing to you but they mean something to me.
One of my wow moments was reading Purple hibiscus by Chimamanda Adichie. I have never seen such a simply written award winning novel. It had simple highly descriptive words that conveyed contexts in its exact state.
Reading that novel brought about my final conclusion that books don’t have to be complicated to win awards and pass information straight to the heart and emotions of the reader.
In fact, if you want to win my awards , if you care to, all I need is an expression of simple words that touches the heart regardless of the length.
