Tareshima Apparles, a garment factory drain, has acquired land on the Dhaka-Aricha highway and occupied the land of the road and traffic department. The waste of the factory will be removed in the Gazikhali river by about a kilometer long drain.
The government is deprived of revenue of about one crore taka for making drains without permission. On the other hand, locals fear the environmental pollution of the water and the area due to waste.
The Tarsima Apparels Factory is located in Naydingi, Dhaka-Aricha highway in Saturia upazila of Manikganj. A kilometer long drain from the factory to the Gazikhali river is being constructed on the highway side. In the meantime, most of the work is done.
Manikganj division's surveyor Arif Hossain said that Tarsima did not take any permission for the construction of the Apparel Drain. According to the rules, to make such a drain on highways land, it is necessary to get permission. After getting permission, revenue was determined on the amount of land. It is allowed to work if deposited as a loan.
The government has been denied revenue of about one crore taka for the construction of the drain without permission.
Deputy Assistant Engineer of Roads and Highways Department Kamal Uddin Ahmed said that the Tarsima Appellal Authority has been told in oral and written several times to stop the construction of the drain. But they did not listen. On May 3, he received a GD in Saturia Police Station, following a senior authority order.
An official reluctant to reveal the names of the roads and the public transport department said that in 2011, Tarsima Apparels by constructing a drain similarly. At that time the drain was constructed by the officials to manage the officials. But due to the Dhaka-Aricha highway, the old drain is not working anymore. As a result, Tarasima is building another new drain. Dry work has been completed for one and a half months but after a GD, the duties have been completed. The official said that Tarsima authorities are planning to build the drain even after this.
However, Executive Engineer of Roads and Highways Department Mahibul Haque claimed that soon after knowing about the construction of the new drain, there was a GD to the police station to take legal action against Taseema. The illegal drain will not be allowed to build the drain.
Meanwhile, while talking to the locals, they said that earlier the drainage of Tasimaa was removed from the drain through the river Gazikhali river. As a result, the river's water was polluted at that time. Since then there is no fish in the river. Tarsima factory has been made bigger in the past few years. As a result, the amount of waste has increased several times. Locals alleged that the Tarsima factory was drained into the river without draining the waste. So they demanded the administration's intervention to stop the river and the environment by stopping the work of new drains. However, Assistant Director of Manikganj Department of Director Saeed Anwar said, "Earlier we tested the waste of Tasmana drain. At that time, we did not get any such waste from environmental pollution. So we could not take any action against the factory. '
In this regard, Mashod Ali, manager administration (land) of Tarsima Apparels, tried to contact several times on mobile phones. But every time he talked about the busyness, he cut off the connection.
