Tianjin, a port city in northern China, will budget 100 billion yuan ($ 16 billion) to support the development of artificial intelligence in the city.
The city also budgeted 10 billion yuan (USD 1.5 billion) again to develop a smart factory.
"This budget was passed to accelerate and expand the intelligent industrial technology in the city," said Tianjin Mayor Sun Wenkui Vice Mayor.
The 100 billion yuan budget will be invested in emerging industries such as intelligent robots, hardware and software, including 30 billion yuan to develop intelligent devices and increase intelligence from traditional industries.
The 10 billion yuan budget will be used to support industries such as the Internet, robotics, integrated circuits, information services, and civil and military integration.
Tianjin is also committed to providing financial support with a maximum value of 30 million yuan (USD 4.7 million) for a national or provincial research institute based in Tianjin.
China's efforts to develop AI in its own country certainly demonstrate China's commitment to defeat the dominance of the United States.China's success in developing AI will also positively affect its military and defense sectors due to the increasingly common use of AI in the sector.
