NASA Designing Special 'Hammers' to Prevent The Asteroid Doomsday, All For The Saving Of The Earth
Could an asteroid hit Earth? | Nypost
Who is not afraid of the possible issue of asteroids crashing into the earth so life in the universe is destroyed?
In response to this, NASA has a plan.
Scientists have devised plans to confront asteroids that enter the earth and destroy our planet.
The plan is in the form of a spaceship called HAMMER which stands for Hypervelocity Asteroid Mitigation Mission for Emergency Response.
In English, HAMMER (hammer) itself has a hammer meaning.
The aircraft will be designed by top experts from NASA, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and two Energy Department weapons labs.
Still according to the same source, the plane has two ways to neutralize the threat of asteroids.
The first way is by hitting the asteroid, and then pointing it off the track so as not to touch the earth.
The second- and the more dangerous-HAMMER would blow up his nuclear warhead to change the asteroid field.
"If the asteroid size is smaller, and we've detected it earlier, we can do it with the impactor," explains physicist David Dearborn.
"Impactors are not as flexible as nuclear options when we really want to change the velocity of the object immediately."
The plane, according to scientists, is likely to be usable by 2035 when the Bennu asteroid having a 1: 2,700 probability hit Earth.
Unfortunately, there is no certainty when NASA's new plans will be built. NASA has not yet determined the cost estimate needed to make this spacecraft.
That is what makes some circles call this plan a weak plan.
The new plan will be presented at a conference of asteroid experts in Japan this May.
If this goes well, chances are we'll see HAMMER come true.
