Galata Tower is a medieval stone tower in the Galata district of Istanbul, Turkey. The tower is located in the northern part of the Golden Horn. Galata Tower is also One of the city's most striking landmarks, the height of a closed cylinder cone that dominates the sky and affords vista panoramic views of Old Istanbul and its surroundings. The height of this tower is 66 meters with a diameter of 16 meters.

At first the Tower was set up for the city's defense tower, but in 1717 the Ottomans began using the tower to see the source of the fire in the city. In 1794, during the reign of Sultan Selim III, the roof of the tower was made of tin and wood, and the staircase was badly damaged by fire. Another fire destroyed the building in 1831, on which a new recovery work took place. In 1875, during a storm, the conical roof at the top of the building was destroyed. This tower remains without this conical roof for the remainder of the Ottoman period.
