When I was in China at the end of October 2012, a man in front of me was busy targeting his cell phone camera. Light fires grabbed the face. That morning, many people had gathered.
A number of police personnel, television reporters and graphic photographs appeared pacing. I also saw some provincial officials, as well as some religious leaders: Buddhists, Dao, and Christians standing parallel in the Mosque's porch. The reporters are busy taking their pictures.
That morning, the Jiangxi Provincial Government will inaugurate the Nanchang Mosque. Portraits of religious diversity are drawn on the front of the Mosque. When the Imam Masjid concluded his speech, the committee also gave the time for other religious leaders to give a speech at the event.
Chinese society is not all Buddhists. Its people also consist of Taoist Religion, Religion of Islam, Christian Religion, and Catholic Religion. The number of adherents of Buhhdha is roughly 200,000, and the Buhhdha is composed of three congers, the Chinese Buhhdha Religion, the Tibetan Buhhdha Religion, and the Southern Buhhdha Religion.
The second largest religion in China is the Taoist religion, but the number of adherents is difficult to quantify. The adherents of this religion worship nature and ancestors since ancient times. Taoist religion does not stipulate ceremonies of belief or rules of customary religion that the Indonesian people believe.
Adherents of Islam in China as many as 18 million people. Islam enters China in the 7th century. Most Chinese Muslims live in the autonomous region of Uygar Ethnic Xinjiang, autonomous region of Ningxia Hui Ethnic Group, Gansu Province, Qinghai Province, Shaanxi Province, and Yunnan Province. Meanwhile, the number of Christians is about 10 million and the Catholic faith reaches almost 5 million people.
Nanchang Mosque is the first mosque in Jiangxi province. Before the mosque was inaugurated, Muslims in Jiangxi worshiped in a two-storey house, located in the center of Nanchang township. About an hour's drive from my campus, Nanchang University.
But after the building of the mosque was inaugurated, I and my friends only takes 30 minutes to the mosque, one ride public transport with the same route. Friday azan voice also sounded out the mosque complex.
The Nanchang Mosque looks magnificent with a large dome painted green, flanked by two small domes, and two stories. On the first floor as the mosque's office, and a large room where women worship. The second floor is the place to carry out congregational prayers. And the yard of the mosque is also quite large, although it still looks arid.
After the mosque building was inaugurated that morning. I only took 15 minutes to the mosque. Enough to ride the city transportation from campus.
