Let’s talk a little bit about risk in the outdoors!

As you know we take our kids hiking and camping to some pretty remote places where there is absolutely no cell service available! We obviously go prepared with enough food, water, the right gear, and a first aid kit! We have training, protocols in place and we use our judgement while out in the wilderness— and we teach our kids the same thing! These are all great things, right!?! .
.
Well, after a recent incident in the outdoors with our daughter we decided to go one step further because we never want to put our kids in a situation that we couldn’t get help for while out in the wildness! Even though Finley didn’t have life threatening injuries, we began thinking what if she did or what if Cory or I had had life threatening injuries and couldn’t get to help with our kids! .
.
Those questions led us to doing some research and then deciding to purchase @garminoutdoor inreach mini! This allows us to put out an SOS call, send text messages to family and/or send our location without cell service. We are now able to let our adventurous hearts wander the outdoors and completely put our minds at ease! .
.
This is not all the @garminoutdoor inReach does! There are a lot of other cool features that help you navigate the outdoors that you should check out!!! .
.
But we want to know how do you and your family prepare for the risk that comes with traveling and doing outdoor adventures in remote places???
