Thanks! We have celebrated over New Year's weekend for many years now. My son's birthday is on December 30th and my grandsons is on January 6th so we get together on that weekend and have birthday parties, Christmas, and a New Year's celebration. It had simply gotten too difficult for everyone to be all the places that they needed to be for Christmas various grandparents wanted them and other moms and dads wanted them and I easily saw that it would be better for everyone if I took a step back and changed my traditions and had Christmas on New Year's. And now we all would not have it any other way. They were here for four days and I got to have them all to myself and we had a blast!
That sounds wonderful ! I'm glad you were able to work it out in such a happy way. I'm all for new traditions, when the old ones become hard to manage.
My brother had a family party at his house on the 15th, so we could celebrate a good while without anyone being pushed to go somewhere else. :)..... then I met with various friends here and there and Christmas Eve (and the day before) I put on good Christmas music, wrapped presents, baked and cooked lots of Christmas goodies and Christmas Eve when all was done I watched Scrooge, the 1951 version with Allastair Sim (my fav version) while eating popcorn and having a toddy. :) Christmas morning I put the last bit of food together and went to my Mom's around noon where the family celebrated some more and opened presents. Later I thought I would step next door to my Uncle's house like I sometimes do on Christmas night, but one of my cousins had fallen and had a bad leg break a couple of days before (which I didn't know)..... and my Aunt's Uncle on her side had to go to assisted living and she takes care of her whole family..... so that happened close (and I didn't know that !) .....so they did not have their supper that night, which meant I was happily on my own to watch shows on my new firestick and eat leftover food and goodies from the lunch. It was ALL good. I did step over next door the following day for a while to give them some goodies and breakfast gift cards and had a nice visit with them all to myself. :)
Today one of my other cousins came by and gave me the most beautiful bright red cardinal yard stake made by a local artist/craftsman. It has it's wings spread like it is taking off. I think he uses paint like is on cars and "bakes" it at high temps so they do not fade immediately like lot of hard things you buy in the stores. I was thrilled to get it and cannot wait till spring. So... .it seems Christmas was still going on today !
That sounds absolutely delightful! My kids got me a new huge TCL Roku HDR TV and I can't wait to watch movies. My old TV was 10 years old and was having issues, so it had just become easier not to bother watching anyting . Do you love your Firestick?
