This is my entry for #marketfriday hosted by the wonderful and amazing @dswigle. This week I visited a friend’s ceramic shop at Amarin Plaza as I have not been there for several months. I would like to update myself on the colourful atmosphere and display in this friendly shop.
This shop has a large collection of blue and white ceramic which were produced by old companies in the northern provinces of Thailand, such as Lampang and Chiengmai. These ceramics are hand painted! That’s why each piece is slightly different from the others. I often see overseas customers order several complete sets to be shipped to their countries. So, sometimes my friend has to spend days packing up several boxes for shipping as soon as possible. She has regular customers from Asian countries who have to decorate houses for rent. Some Indian customers ordered hundreds of smaller pieces for giving guests at their wedding.
Apart from the popular blue and white ceramics, she also has some small pieces of celadon ceramic. The new addition to the shop is the ‘abstract’ blue and white which looks rather odd and funny to me! Those artists who are used to paint according to old designs have been asked to try something a bit more like abstract painting. They probably has no idea about painting something from inner feeling and expression. The result was very odd splashes of blue paint on dishes. But the new deep blue ceramic attracts my attention. They look too serious and solemn for putting food on them, I am afraid the food won’t taste so nice. These deep blue plates are much more expensive than ordinary collection.
Special ceramic with five colours patterns called Benjarong. Some of these have 18k gold decoration. These used to be exclusively used in palaces in the past, where more gold decorations were the norm.
Wishing you peace, good health and prosperity.
Cheers.

How fun to visit a friend ceramic shop! It's always nice to go in and refresh your thoughts on the atmosphere. Your friend certainly have an abundance of beautiful ceramic. I really love the black and white as it's very different. I love the fact that their hand painted in each is just a little bit different than the other. Wouldn't that be amazing to give every person a piece of her Pottery for a wedding favor? Although the blue and white is one of my most favorite colors as far as dishes and pottery I do like the addition of the green and what looks like cabbage plates. They're very popular here. I'm not sure if I like the abstract ones but I can tell you that everything that she has in this shop is gorgeous and amazing. The cups that used to go to the Palaces are gorgeous and I noticed all the wood working that they have. I love the log that they hollowed out and made like a little treasure chest. Another amazing post by you and I appreciate you taking the time and effort to do one.
#MarketFriday loves you
Upped and steemed
Thank you very much for your tip, and upvote and support & encouragement. Yes, it was very enjoyable for me to visit this shop. I also like that teal wood box very much! I have some small green plate and cups in my kitchen, they seem to lighten things up a bit. Would love to use wooden spoon and plates to see if the food would taste better!
Have a very nice day!

I have Wooden Spoons and wooden bowls that I use for salads and it does taste a little bit different. I guess I never thought about it until you mentioned it. I hope you have a most wonderful day and I can't believe it, but we are halfway through the week already!
These looks great! I wish we had shops like that in Finland!

Very interesting job!
But for some reason, some blue paintings remind me of the work of Russian masters.
Aha!! Very good to know that!! Do show some pictures of the Russian art work!
