I was reading an article claiming that original Tinkerball, the one from the 1953 movie, was this horrible "person". It pointed out how vicious she was to Wendy from the moment they met. But it doesn't consider WHY she's acting this way. I'm going to bring up a few views as to what I think as to why she acted this way and why I honestly can relate.
To me Tinkerbell seemed like a jilted lover. I mean before Wendy she already had all these super attractive females to deal with who clearly were just as vicious as her.
***Tiger Lily - didn't hide her attraction to Peter, even though he was your typical clueless male
***The mermaids - not ONE but multiple very attractive, barely dressed, females. And even though they have fins, it's not like they couldn't give him a blowjob...and we all know men LOVE those! Now enter Wendy, this super sweet, kind and caring little girl. Something clearly Tink had never dealt with. All she's seeing is yet another very attractive female that Peter is all into right in front of her. So she responds how she likely was used to, violently. Cause it's clear that's all she knows now.
Tink has been constantly stuck watching Peter flirt and be flirted with by all these women. He clearly doesn't care about her to the level she cares about him. Anyone know how this feels, cause I sure do...CONSTANTLY! To her it's like she's stuck on a daily basis watching her selfish ass boyfriend cheat on her, but he's too stupid to realize it. And it seems like she literally has nowhere else to go anymore.
Now switch to the live action movie in the 1990s with Robin Williams and Julia Roberts. That Tink is now a bad ass but still not respected. But she had to watch HER man up and leave her for some...human. She pretty much says she always wanted him when she gets her wish to be "big" and kiss him. Yet, once again, she has to watch him leave. She's more mature in this one but it comes off rather sad that she'll watch him age and die and never be with him again.
Now to bring up the later TV movies.
LATER Tink, which are set pre-Peter Pan, she's this super smart, sweet, friendly fairy...what the hell happened?! All we know is she saves Peter when he's an abandoned baby and seems to get very attached to him. But from those stories fairies aren't supposed to be like that with humans. So did she get kicked out of the fairy realm for wanting to take care of Peter? Talk about cruel. Then Peter becomes her only family. Yet he grows into this man with zero respect for females.
So what do I think happened to Tink to make her into the 1953 version...a man with no respect for women happened.
Oooh I don't know where to start with Disney... Lol don't worry won't hijack another post. Still feel awkward about that, it was just my thoughts in the moment though so at least there's that..
Anyway, I don't dislike Tinkerbell lol.
You didn't hijack it at all! You gave a different viewpoint and a valid one!
So I'd love to hear what you have to say on this!
