Happy Valentines Day! When my kids and grandkids were here this past weekend we made cut-out sugar cookies and decorated them for Valentines Day!
This has been an ongoing tradition and this year was our 18th annual Cookie Baking Day! The kids have grown up and are much neater bakers and decorators than they were when we first started this.
Now they have jobs and other events that interfere with my plans to gather everyone together and there were not nearly as many cookie decorators here this year. The snowy weather did not help this year either, and many family members who had to travel a long distance were not here.
I wonder how many phones were covered in icing before the day was done?

Oh how beautiful!! I made sugar cookies with my kids this year for Valentines Day and now I’m inspired to create a tradition of it :)
I started it for my niece when she was 3yrs old and continued as my grandkids came along. I almost didn't do it this year because everyone has gotten so busy and so grown up that I often wonder if coming to Grandma's house to make cookies is important anymore. There was a huge outcry when I even suggested that I wasn't going to do it so I guess it continues! I think traditions for families are very important.

Ha! I got a comment from Keith, too. Yes my tips are usually .1 unless I want to give someone a bigger vote for some reason. Sometimes my friends in Venezuela have a need for more and I try to help out, and a tip is a good way to do that since my 100% upvote is only worth . 07 right now.
dang 7 cents is alot these days! almost everybody's is worth 2 or 3 cents it seems like. So if I send them 1 steem that would last ten .1 steem tips?
I never can figure out the math. I'm usually out of tips before I expect to be., but you have the theory right!

I'm hopeful that our voting power will grow soon. The price of steem has been slowly climbing this week.

haha... not really. I have the Partiko App on my phone before i learned of esteem. So, I check in occasionally to do an upvote or a simple post - to maintain my presence, so to speak.
Whew! I was worried. When I curate posts, I tend to skip over people that are not loyal to eSteem and I didn't want that to happen!

What a great tradition. We used to do this at Christmas time. It’s nice to see traditions like this still going strong. Happy Valentines Day!
We started out with cookie baking day being at Christmas time. But then it got to be more and more difficult to find a date when everyone could get together at the same time. So we changed it to Valentine's Day but now the weather keeps interfering with plans and we were joking that maybe we might have to do a Fourth of July cookie baking day!

No she's on third shift so she didn't get up till 2 o'clock and then after eating and getting ready she took off for work again! those 12 hour shifts are brutal.

yeah good idea. but she doesn't like anything like that, she doesn't like anything romantic, she thinks it's stupid. She is like a guy in some ways and that's one of them.

We started out as a Christmas cookie baking day get together. But it was such a busy time of year for everyone and the weather was so undependable that we decided to change it till Valentine's Day. And this year the weather has been on dependable and everyone was busy and I suggested possibly making May day cookies or fourth of July cookies! 😃
What kind of shapes would be for May day? :)

I made some daisy flowers once. It wasn't for May Day, but Mother's Day.
I attached a few to sticks and made an arrangement out of some of them for the table..
Those are lovely! See? May day flowers and hopefully it would be done snowing by then and everyone would be able to get here!

I went home for the weekend and my mother decided ot make some Valentines cookies, even though it's a day late. She enlisted my help frosting them...
Hahaha! One of the kids brought along this cookie cutter and everyone decorated a few of these, too!

There were lots of jokes about the kids making pot cookies at grandma's house. It started several conversations about using drugs and alcohol and I enjoyed hearing their thoughts about such things. They are all so academically focused that there is simply no room in their lives for that sort of stuff.
As long as they weren't "magic" cookies! Lol
Ha! Not at all. They were all thinking they were pretty clever because they recognized what the shape of the leaf was! My daughter was joking with all of them and telling them that they were wrong - that it was like poinsettia leaf. We did have a good time with it.
