In the world of education the experts define that, butterflies can be distinguished from moths, based on their active time and physical characteristics. Simply butterflies are generally active during the day, while moths are mostly active at night. The butterfly rests or percolates by enforcing its wings as it appears in the picture, while the moths settle with their wings spread out. Butterflies usually have a brilliantly beautiful color, moths tend to be dark, dull or gray.
However, these differences are always exceptions, so it is scientifically impossible to make a firm reference to them. But most people think that between moths and butterflies are considered the same.
