This guava fruit has a scientific name namely Anacardium occidentale, which is included in the type of plant from the Anacardiaceae tribe who came from Brazil. This plant has edible fruits and seeds. In Indonesia, this guava fruit has a different name, including: cashew (Javanese), guava (Sunda), guava (Minangkabau), guava fruit (Manado), and guava fruit (Makassar).
Even though the name is guava fruit, this guava fruit is not shaped like a monkey. Hehe. However, the fruit is very typical. And even though we call it "guava", it turns out that the cashew plant is not a sweetheart like guava and guava. Nor is he a brother with nuts even though we call the seeds "cashews". Serious? Yes, this guava is actually closer to mango.
Which part do we often call the fruit? The big one, the taste is fresh and slightly sour, the color is rather yellow or red and soft texture? Yup, we often call it part of the fruit. In fact, actually it is not the original fruit. It's just a false fruit, where the pseudo fruit is the base of the flower that grows after fertilization.
