It is possible to be a Christian and still be foolish. A lot of Christians are foolish today. This is the truth of the parable of the ten virgins as revealed by Jesus Christ. Matthew 25:1-13.

The fur fact is that all ten were virgins. That is believers living right and expecting the second coming of the Lord. All had their lamps burning. This means they were all waiting, watching and expectant. They were all Spirit filled because they all had oil in their lamps. That is where the similarity ends. The wise virgins planned carefully and were proactive, and knew what problems could prevent them from being ready and prepared for it by getting extra oil in case the oil in the lamps gets exhausted. To be ready and not be caught unawares, we must put in extra effort and go the extra mile without being carefree about the weightier matters of heaven.
The wise virgins prepared well and were ready for eventualities. It is only the Christian who is preoccupied primarily with the preparation for the coming of the Lord, who doesn't allow the vain things of this world to crowd the thoughts of heaven from their hearts that are truly wise. Matthew 25:33-34.The foolish virgins were concerned with the present. They did not plan for eventualities. They did not carry extra oil for their lamps. They were caught off guards when the bride groom came. They were found wanting. They had to go and buy extra oil. The Holy Spirit cannot be bought like the oil.
Many Christians are not preoccupied with the expectation of the second coming of Christ today. Repent today. Tomorrow may be too late. Matthew 24:42-46.
No, the foolish virgins weren't Christians. They weren't allowed into the wedding banquet which symbolizes the wedding feast of Jesus and the church.
Everyone who's saved already has the Holy Spirit. We're sealed by the Holy Spirit on our day of redemption. We have more of the Spirit the more we mature in Christ.
In the parable, the foolish virgins are told something very similar to what the wicked are told by Jesus.
(Matthew 25:11-12 NIV) "Later the others also came. 'Sir! Sir!' they said. 'Open the door for us!' {12} "But he replied, 'I tell you the truth, I don't know you.'
(Matthew 7:22-23 NIV) Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' {23} Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
