'Rose Crowned Fruit Dove.'

The beautiful Rose Crowned Fruit Dove (Ptillinopus Vergina) are also known as Pink-Capped Fruit Dove or Swainson's Fruit Dove. They are characterized by their grey head and breast, orange belly, white throat, yellow-orange iris and grey-greenish bill. Their crowns are pinkish red with a narrow yellow border.

They build their nests from twigs using a fork in shrubs and trees. They only lay one egg at a time but can produce 2 or 3 clutches per breeding season.

These doves are found on coastal ranges of Eastern New South Wales and Queensland in Australia and from New Castle to Cape York.

Their diet consists of fruit from trees, shrubs, vines and palms.

Rose crowned fruit doves are locally nomadic birds, following the ripening fruit whilst dispersing seeds via their droppings.

That is one beautiful colorful Dove but are you aware that @juliank has not been active for more then 2 months now but you can still keep posting your beautiful photos just pointless using his tags now because there are no payouts anymore :)

It certainly is i loved his contest it covered a lot of areas and it always kept you on your toes when you were out and about. The worst part though why do they just disappear like that without saying anything at all , you know like people i have some issues or whatever i will be back you know something but nothing i do find that annoying and rude:(

I'm glad you enjoyed these images Lena. Australia is blessed with such a wonderful variety of bird life and I take every opportunity to get amongst them to get photos. Its a bonus when they stay sti long enough to capture reasonable shots.
