Last week I read a post by someone who made some home made chicken soup. I think it was @thedarkhorse. I also know he was under the weather last week.

Chicken soup appears to help fight colds, according to several studies. It helps clear nasal congestion as well as thin mucus so you can better cough it up. In addition, research shows it may have a mild anti-inflammatory effect than can help ease symptoms

I have always like chicken soup and this week I have been slower then normal, if that is even possible . So Mrs Wolf made me some chicken soup. It sure was good and hit the spot. Hopefully chicken soup with meds will help out a little. :)

Its a simple recipe
Chicken and broth
Celery
Carrots
Noodles
Salt and pepper
Onions

Maybe you have a different way to make it or additional ingredients. I have seen where rice was used instead of noodles.

That’s a piece of rosemary chicken in the bowl at the top. I get the sniffles and we go into crisis mode.

But cancer doesn’t have to kill you

This looks like a typical Asian soup. Hmmmm, so yummy! 😜

Chicken soup is universal. East, Far East, west , north well maybe not north. Do they have chicken πŸ“ up there.
Whhhhahahahahaha

Yes! Lol we've chickens up north πŸ˜‰ glad to see you taking good care of yourself. Home made soup is the best! πŸ₯£

Hahaha yea I thought that was funny 😁 , no chickens up north.
The only processed soup I will eat is Campbell’s chicken noodle. I like the homemade soups and food for that matter. I prefer to eat home then out.

Yup it was me and it was great. I cheated and used a rotisserie chicken from the store. Only thing that isn't on your list of ingredients that I used was 2 cloves of fresh garlic and some dry seasonings. Mine is 30 minute cook time and about 15 minutes of prep. It was great and fed us for 2 meals.

Cloves and garlic. I have to ask her that might have got by me. That sounds like two important ingredients . She cooked her’s for a good 4 hours if not more. I spent the day in bed.
Yea we eat leftover, meals that last for more then one meal. So many people don’t .

I'm a fan of garlic and would put more in, but that was the amount the reciepe called for and I listened. It was my first try and really liked it. Next thing I plan on trying is making my own Jerky. Won't do that one while I'm sick so I'll take photos and make a post about it.

I used to do jerky. Purchased one of the dehydrators. I would go to the market when they would put the meat on sale and have them cut it up. LOL but I got a lot of meat for the price. But it was all well worth it.
Some people do it in their oven. I prefer the dehydrator

I'm going to try the oven approach first and then if we like it enough I'll buy a dehydrator. From what I've read the over does a good job.

Tried to get the meat the other day, but the butcher was already gone for the day and the person behind the meat counter wasn't allowed to actually cut any meat. Stupid ass unions in Chicago.

Yea you have to be a union cert butcher to cut meat. LOL
Yea I used it at first also. It does the same job. I just never liked leaving the oven on that long. When your getting your flavor down with small batches it most likely best. The trick is in the marinations. That took time to developing the flavor I liked. Minimum 30 hours in the frig so the meat soaks up all the sauce flavors.

I figured I do 3-4 variations at a time to see what works best for my tastes. Have most of the spices in the house anyways so not like I'll be buying much to test the different flavors.

Oh, that looks delish!!! I miss chicken noodle soup.

I like your name :)
It was good. Warms you up a little

Thank you very much. When my kids were little, Gmail had just gone public, they decided to get me email address rubberduckiemom and it stuck! I just love the freedom it gives me! I can do all sorts of crazy stuff and everyone kind of expects it. Freedom comes in many forms.

I keep trying to get involved in PIFC as @xcountytravelers but it just never stuck because I just got involved with @heyhaveyamet. I really need to jump in and try it.... You would think I would have plenty of great posts to choose from being in HHYM! haha.

I do get how things take up so much time. Just not enough time for it all.
Some of them are in the pifc discord also. I was in there last night LOL

I am headed that way in a little bit. I have to go get the @heyhaveyamet post done for today.

Ok @wolfhart do you know @rubberduckiemom ? She is @xcountytravelers and @heyhaveyamet and we do the #steemterminal ..... or you already knew this

That soup looks delish !

I've heard many times through the years that it is healing. Hope it helps.

It actually is . That is why I put the information from Web MD there.
And to top it off, it tastes good.

Chicken soup seems good to have at least once or twice a month even when you are not sick, because of that great bone broth that you get! The gelatin from the bones, I think, is really good for you! Another great combo is chicken, broth, salt and pepper, rice, onions -- all poured over a bowl with tortilla chips and avocado, and lastly, lime juice added to top! Yum! Sorry for the hard time you are going through. I hope you will pull through to good health! Giving you and the Mrs. a hug from Pennsylvania in the USA.

Thanks for the recipe
I will have to follow you because you are from penn. I am from Jersey transplanted to Kansas. Are you from the Philadelphia area

Hope that the chicken soup really work on you @wolfhart, I made chicken soup few days ago. The simple and easy to cook and never failedπŸ˜‰. My chicken soup.. eating with rice, though you can find it with noodles and meatball at the food court too😊.

By the way😊 here in my country, many of us cook anything for two meals, lunch and dinner😊 and sometimes for 2 days meals too😊

Yea we are not to proud to eat leftovers. Sometime it tast better the second time it is cooked or heated.
I have seen chicken soup with rice and I have eaten it. It goes teoghter good.
I think I am comming down with a cold. Hopefully I can prevent it. Been in bed mostly for the past couple days.
