ETC was the initial currency associated with the Ethereum blockchain. Several months ago there was a hack attack on ETC, so ETC forked into ETH. ETH is whats newer.
From what I could tell, BTC tanked earlier, this brought down the price of ETH. The charts are almost identical. Once BTC started to swing up, ETH followed. I posted the charts earlier to see the comparison.
@edizzl79 - Agreed.. When BTC drops significantly it seems to effect the whole Crypto market. I guess because ETH is quite a big player it gets affected. In addition I think the recent issue with the big dump and the new tokens have also caused further drops.
I think that that big crash the other day, has had a huge impact on newcomers to steam, crypto currency, and to this blockchain technology as a whole. I think it's going to take a little bit of time until people start to regain trust again. The best part about this for some, is that when the price goes down, buying frenzies go crazy at certain levels. What does this mean for us? Time to do some homework and pay attention to graphs, news and peoples advice! Big things come to those who wait, but bigger things come to those who speculate 😉

It's not the recent crash that has slowed me down. See my post @leopotato on ethereum. First buy, frozen Jaxx wallet and no support. Finally got my eth in to my ether wallet but I think I would rather stack silver. Too stressful for me!
So many! im guilty of it in a sense but i now try focus on many different groups of people, try to get the whole Steemit experience, see what i can actually do with this platform. i do like to invest with STEEM also so i want to see if what they offer is worth having my money. So far... way worth it!!!
I will be putting more crypto stuff up soon that should have some juicy stuff :)

Well if you could do a Steemitfor COMPLETE dummies that would be awesome. Most explanations assume I know something, anything... but I don't get Steemit yet.
The massive influx of ICOs has slowed the network down that some exchanges are halting ETH trades. I think it will go down till the ICO craze does down.
Me thinks that price would go up once the date of the POS is finalized.

Coinbase and Poloniex both stopped ETH trading, I don't know why but I wanted to buy the dip and couldn't. I'm sure this made the drop worse.

Coinbase hasn't stopped trading. I just purchased another ETH at a nice low price about 5 mins ago :-)
