We should let the attacker keep the money
This is exactly what I thought would happen. The Ethereum fork set a very unpleasant precedence and the so-called Ethereum classic community has a real chance to overtake the forkers. Personally, I would not like to use technology with a community behind it that pushes bailouts just like old-school politicians offer all the time for zombie banksters. If they bailed out once then they will bail out and fork over and over again. That defeats the purpose of blockchain technology completely. However, surely both communities of Ethereum bailout and Ethereum classic have a reason to coexist in this emerging market space.
It will be no surprise to me if the new Ethereum classic fork will actually take off and end up being on the same level as Ethereum bailout. Ethereum classic is now already in the top league of traded cryptos. More trading information is available here. For sure we see that the question of how the governance of crypto-currencies should be handled is it easy to resolve. Regardless, this is precedence with a drama effect that should be interesting to follow.
