False news of Vitalik Buterin's Death used to create fear

in #ethereum8 years ago

A Malicious Anonymous 4-chan user posted fake news about Vitalik Buterin's death in a "fatal car crash" today, with the aim of causing FUD (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt).

The post simply read "Fatal car crash. And now we have our answer. He was the glue. It will be difficult for ETH to recover and the entire crypto sphere is in big trouble." This news unfortunately spread like wildfire on social media, with many asking if he was truely dead.

The man himself responded with a Twitter photo and the most recent ethereum block number and HASH, proving once and for all that he is indeed alive and well (the hacker equivalent of taking a photo with today's newspaper)

Goes to show you shouldn't believe everything on the internet!

It's 4chan, I'd called it trolling instead

Pretty scary to see such a big panic within the crypto community with the (false) announce of the death of one man ... OK he is important, but he is just one man ... Ethereum and the crypto-community are a community (= lot of human being) . Thanks for the news.

such lazy fud too. can't beleive it actually caught on

Its amazing the stuff that goes "viral" haha, trolls are just way to motivated these days!

Damn ,all this is to reach your attention, but how you could knew ,is it real or not . Good post

Crazy!... Man Vitalik looks like Gollem from Lord of the Rings. He should use some of his money he made off Ethereum and hire a personal trainer and chef... and maybe hit the beach and get a tan.

wow, I wonder if this is why prices have dropped today. Well great page, I followed you since I saw your youtube videos, happy to see you have stuck with it and really done well, I just got started today, love the platfrom

I love his reaction on this. Who needs a newspaper when you have a massive global decentralized computer network which produces an unique hash for you to use :D

don't give ideas to shorters
