As we approach Devcon2 in September, where developers will speak heavily on their progress with project related to Ethereum and Bitcoin, in Shanghai, the price for Ether seems poised for lift-off.
After seeing the price go from $10.95, earlier today, to 11.27, is the next big move upwards beginning?
Having two chains does lower total upside, but having the Ethereum foundation and the vast majority of important developers squarely choosing ETH over ETC is restoring faith in Vitalik's brilliant vision which got so many people excited in Ethereum to begin with.
Also interesting is the relationship between the price ratio of ETC/ETH and the hash rate ratio between the two. For now it appears the hash rate is oscillating around and asymptotically approaching 20%, but devcon will probably surge the prices way up.
It is indeed very fascinating to watch, and I agree with your observations. It'll be interesting to see if ETC maintains interest as profit potential goes down for miners.
The hard fork is slowly moving into the background.
Thank god- it's been like a really long bad dream. It's like we're all finally waking up :)
I had to get out of ETH completely with the uncertainty of the ETC chain, but I have started moving all of my crypto back into ETH. Brutal month, I lost about 50 ETH from where I started before the fork and all the drama. I guess it's not too bad.
Yeah, this has indeed been an unexpected disaster for a lot of us. Who knows how far along Ethereum would be had this whole fiasco with The DAO never occurred. Maybe the price would be at 50 bucks by now :)
We'll never know, the only thing I would say is that it better happened early than at 50$ as losses would likely have been much sharper for everybody and recovery might have been tremendously more difficult. At the least it got everybody to refocus on the tech itself, so in the end it might not have been so bad..
Any new tech is only as good as it's developers. Eth to the end for me.
Amen, brotha! Up-vote.
All the chaos around ETC chain since hardfork, is holding back ETH's growth. I feel Devcon can restore some faith back in ETH and keep the crypto community apprised of dapps being developed in Ethereum.
Faith is probably indeed slowly coming back..and I think thats what the current price movements are indicative of, maybe. It'll be interesting to see what role Bitcoin, the granddaddy, plays in all of this.
Breakout
Do you know when the attacker can withdraw? around what date do the funds become available?
The 31st of August. It'll continue to get interesting for ETC until then.
