Not sure what you mean when you say "trading alts." Ethereum is cheaper to send between exchanges so in that case, it is better. In terms of which one is better to buy and hold, I have both. I think Bitcoin is less risky right now because it is currently out of favor, but Ether has higher upside.

When I don't have time to trade or something like that, I prefer to hold the money in Bitcoin, when it's not being used and now I'm thinking about finding an alternative.
Hi @cryptovestor! Since you've mentioned the transaction fees, I'd like to additionally say that the difference is humongous! If now I decided to transfer 100 Euros worth of BTC from my Coinbase account to eg. Poloniex, it would cost me about 14 Euros! Sending the same amount in ETH would cost me only about 0.25 Euros...
The slogan which can be found at bitcoin.org, stating 'Low processing fees' has lost it's meaning long ago!
@piotr42 You can always convert your ETH and BTC to NEO if you want to move your funds between exchanges such as bittrex & binance for $0 fee. Only problem NEO doesn't have fraction of NEO (i.e. 0.1, 0.002)
