It's just a benchmark to see if you outperformed. Think about it if you hired someone else as your wealth manager - you wouldn't be too happy with paying them fees if you would have made more money if you just bought Bitcoin. Think of yourself as both the wealth manager and the client. Would you fire yourself? Bitcoin will continue to be the measurement as long as it continues to dominate the space in terms of crosscurrency pairs and for as long as its movements tend to affect other cryptocurrency movements.
