The Komodo platform announced that it was able to carry out for the first time an atomic exchange (Atomic Swap) between ether (ETH) and its native cryptocurrency, Komodo Coin (KMD). Milestone reached through BarterDEX, a decentralized exchange house that specializes in this exchange tool.

Recently, Komodo published through his account on the social network Twitter that his team had managed to make an atomic exchange between ETH and KMD, which also means that now BarterDEX (the exchange platform used for it) is ready to provide support to ETH and soon to tokens ERC20.

The technology director or CTO of the Komodo platform, known as ca333 both on the official website of the project and on Twitter, was the first to make the news known by publishing an image with the transactions made in the procedure:

As you can see in the image, the exchange was carried out in an Ethereum testnet, a network used to perform tests before executing new protocols and actions in the main network or mainnet. However, the transactions that have been made with other cryptocurrencies in the platform have been made in the main blockchain of each one of these.

BarterDEX is defined by the Komodo team (its creators) as a decentralized exchange house, since all transactions between cryptocurrencies carried out on this platform are executed through atomic exchanges; a tool that allows these transactions to be made directly between the blockchains without the need for intermediaries.

As mentioned above, this is not the first atomic exchange that takes place on the platform. Previously, transactions of this type have been made between KMD and a variety of cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin (BTC). In fact, yesterday, January 11, 2018, celebrated having exceeded the 20,000 successful atomic exchanges BarterDEX.

Other platforms are also working on similar projects, among which we can mention Altcoin.io, who have already launched the beta version of their atomic exchange portfolio and recently added more than a dozen new cryptoactives available to exchange.

Little by little the name of atomic exchanges becomes more common, or as they are known in English atomic swaps, in the blockchain ecosystem. The improvement of this tool brings with it a high level of decentralization and development that will surely open many more doors to blockchain technology and its global adoption.
