MegaCryptoPolis Taxes - Explained

in #ethereum6 years ago

Just like real taxes, MegaCryptoPolis taxes can be complex and confusing. Luckily, I've spent the time and energy to figure it out so that you don't have to! Throughout this article I'll explain the basics of the influence and tax systems in MCP, as well as dig deeper into the details and calculations. Let's get into it!

Taxes are distributed amongst players every game cycle (24 hours). The amount of taxes received by a player depends on the influence the player holds. Because of this, influence points are integral to a player's success. Influence points are gained by owning buildings or resources. Influence defines a player's position on the global and local leaderboards, as well as the amount of taxes received every game cycle; the higher up on the leaderboard a player is, the more taxes he/she will receive every 24 hours. Taxes are funded by taking a small amount of each transaction (buying blocks, building structures, etc.) and adding it to the global and local pools for distribution.

The amount of taxes each player receives based on their influence points is calculated by the following formula:

I will simplify the equation one part at a time based on the above chart:

  1. The amount of taxes a player receives
  2. The sum of all influence the player owns
  3. Influence points of a certain building the player owns (recalculated for each district)
  4. Total influence points in the district
  5. Sum of the certain building in the total amount (global pool)
  6. Sum of the district's taxes
  7. Part of the global taxes distributed among the district (in percent)

Taxes are distributed with this idea:

Simply put, the more influence a player has, the more local and global taxes they will gather each 24 hour game cycle. Gain more influence by constructing and upgrading buildings on plots of land, as well as owning plots with resources.

I hope this article has been helpful to those getting into MCP! All opinions are my own, and MegaCryptoPolis in no way condones my writing. Have a great day, and good luck!
