Anyone checking cryptos right know is aware of crazy Ethereum based ICOs that mostly pay out really good.
While some of this tokens are really coded new things on the network many are just a copy-paste template of ERC20 to get funding.
So for laugh (just like DOGE long ago) some guys made a token called - Useless Ethereum Token UET.

Sounds like trolling right? Well it just got real. Its trading!
HitBTC exchange that ive already spoke of here few times added it and its running already with volume.
Of course it just started, first trades are always super big on markets and we see 100% off later but the interesting thing is the coin actually getting an exchange with volumes.
TLDR; Coin was made for lulz but remember where DOGE is now!

I don't think it in scam. This token is a joke coin blatantly making fun of how many ICOs have been launching and the investors willing to Shell out cash and risk it all for a project and team they may know nothing about.

i was on the verge of trying this out myself. i was really contemplatin of doing an ico for an idea that i have. an probably makes lot of money thru the process. its amazing how much money can be made and fund thru the ico scheme. you doubt need to make a working viable product to have mills in funding. which is sad because a lot pf startup have great idea but dontget enoughr funding. ico has become a joke

Maybe the UET token can be exchanged as an electronic way to express displeasure. It would be the opposite of giving a Dogecoin tip. It could be an electronic method to use blockchain technology to give someone the finger.

Yes, that is true. I guess this UET ICO has been done by some BTC owner. But as this is the first one, you can hope it to get very high until the owner adds some real value behind it.

The crypto-mania is getting out of hand... I just hope people invest prudently and do their due diligence in this sort of enviroment.
The ethereum classic chain has got a few ICO's running, almost every single one is looking pretty solid actually. Just found the Postalgia and Soundchain projects that are ICO's going to run on the classic chain.
Both stable business idea's and Postalgia even got a product out.
Not bashing ethereum in anyway, some ICO's are looking really good, but relative to the ICO's out there it's a very small amount (IMO).
Perhaps all the attention to Ethereum the last months is a major contribution to this. The attention has just sucked in people that doesn't really know exactly what they are doing dealing in anonymous cyber-currencies. Sounds kind of like paradise for scammers.
My reasoning behind this being that ETC has quite few ICO's but all feeling solid. Scammers are probably not as willing to try and scam people on the ETC chain as that community often is a bit more "involved" in the crypto-space and that the classic chain mostly is ignored by the crypto-mania investors out there (for now anyway).
And i would note again that i am not against ETHEREUM in particular, just arguing about possibilities (i know many get upset when you mention classic, probably because they are heavily invested in eth, which i understand may cause emotions)
Anyway, good post dude, its great to remind people to be a bit more careful. And lol that UET is actually being traded...

The thing is it's interesting to find out how many people will be robbed while others will find real value in this new market. To know that you have a good ICO you have to know who's behind the contract, then their white paper better have something on their other than a blank paper!!! LOL Great Post!

This is very interesting. First of all I'd like to say that this is only going to happen once (in my opinion). The reason is that it's something new and original and witty. However, in a few months, I think the creator is going to back the idea up with some value. Otherwise, people are going to jump out of that boat soon. So if I had bought UET (that I haven't and I'm not going to), I would like to see some value added to the idea. It's funny but what about if we get serious?
