The massive growth of Ethereum last year led to all kinds of Dapps being built on top of it, including one of the first games built on Ethereum-Cryptokitties. Cryptokitties allows you to buy and sell collectible cats, and if you buy at least 2 you are able to breed them and make lots of them until you wish to sell them and potentially make a decent profit in Ether if there is a buyer out there who is passionate about your cats.
According to information found on DappRadar.com, cryptokitties is still one of the most popular games on Ethereum, but the user base hasn't grown tremendously since last year. The dev team is now encouraging 3rd party developers to join the "KittyVerse" in an effort to use Dapp's public API available with the cryptokitties in order to make them available in other blockchain games.
There are several 3rd party Dapps now being developed with adding your cryptokitty to a wide variety of games. I personally think it would be strange to see a cryptokitty in a game such as CryptoMinerWorld, but the developers there have talked about the possibility of enabling you to use your cryptokitty within the game for a mining bonus within the game.
The KittyVerse page currently has 3 games listed there including KittyRace, where you can race your cryptokitties in a short race to compete for a little bit of Ethereum. There is also KittyHats where you can buy hats and other accessories for your cryptokitty, and kitty battles has recently been released where you can battle your cryptokitties against other users.
Kitty.Kred is a 3rd party Dapp where users can create collectible tokens for each of the cats that they own, and they can create fixed supply of these coins to potentially make them valuable coins to someone out there. However, this service is not free, so it probably isn't worth using.
While, this is not really a serious update on the cryptocurrency marketplace as a whole, there is now a higher likelihood that you will be able to use your cryptokitties in a wide variety of games outside of the cryptokitty website.
