A new gameplay video for the upcoming Ethereum based game War Riders has just been released. The game is going to be free to play with the exception of purchasing at least one vehicle either from the team at https://warriders.com/ or from the OpenSea https://opensea.io/assets/warriders.
In War Riders which is a post-apocalyptic wasteland the last known resource available to people is Benzene, and players will purchase vehicles so that they can participate in the game and find Benzene scattered throughout the wasteland. Benzene is going to be the internal currency for the game and be used for garage upgrades, premium guns, nitro boosts, and armor for your vehicles. Ethereum will still be necessary for purchasing garages, vehicles, basic guns, and parts for your vehicle.
Their currency Benzene an ERC-20 token, Ethereum based token, has a total supply of 100 million according to their website and 75 million of that will be awarded to players participating in this game. Benzene (BZN) is probably going to make it's way onto the exchanges soon as well.
However, if you go out with your vehicles to collect Benzene it is not a sure thing as other players will try to attack your vehicles in order to steal the Benzene you might have just found. The trailer below hints at some of the gameplay in the works, and how the game will probably be very competitive as players will try and mine for Benzene by playing the game even though Benzene is going to be a limited resource. Players will be able to build up their number of vehicles, upgrade their garages, and try to defend areas where they find more Benzene or where they decide to build their Benzene stations.
The team so far seems to be on track to hit their goals on the Roadmap even if they end up being a few weeks late. The alpha version of War Riders is scheduled for February 2019, and the final release of the game is scheduled for later in the year where regular grade vehicles will also be available for purchase.
This game is already very popular as 3,700 cars have already been sold as non-fungible, ERC-721 tokens according to the team, and some of the premium grade vehicles such as War Lambos have sold for $450-$2,200 according to the team. This game reminds me of "Twisted Metal" and "Vigilante 8" ... My favorite is "Twisted Metal 3" fills me with nostalgia the memory.
Yeah, I actually remember playing Twisted Metal back in the day. This is going to be one of the first crypto games where you actually want to play it, and the financial incentive to play this game is just a bonus.
Very cool to see gaming trending here on Steemit. The game reminds me a little of H1Z1 Battle Royale/Auto Royale.
I hope it's fun and competitive to people who are casual gamers. There are some games out there I avoid because being alive for 3 seconds a pop is boring.
Good luck with it either way. I've been waiting for the advent of the blockchain fueled game that essentially lets people earn a living by gaming.
But, if one guy can control an entire army of cars, and the same Whale, Dolphin, Minnow dynamic exists on the game platform, I know I would be discouraged from playing.

This is dope and I will with out a doubt get in once it launches, I hope to see a GTA 5 type of crypto game, free roaming city map type. I know they are trying that vr world type stuff with decentraland but geez they taking forever lol
Yeah, it would be very exciting to see GTA or playing some other game with the ability to mine crypto. Dencentraland will come out with their final product in 2030, lol.
