Madrid - Finalists of the 2018 Madrid Open group are known. 10th seed Petra Kvitova will duel with unseeded tennis player Kiki Bertens for the title.
The Czech Republic qualified for the final after beating sixth seed and compatriot Karolina Pliskova 7-6 (4) 6-3 in the semi-final match which ended on Saturday (05/5/2018). This victory marks the third in a row for Kvitova over Pliskova after in Wuhan 2014 and Sydney 2015.
Now, Kvitova is just one step away from getting a third Madrid title in her career. Previously, Kvitova champion in 2011 by beating Victoria Azarennka and 2015 after defeating Svetlana Kuznetsova.
In the previous party, Bertens continued a brilliant weekend after thrashing seventh seed Caroline Garcia. The Dutchman won a landslide victory over Garcia 6-2, 6-2.
Bertens appeared sensational in this tournament after defeating top tennis players Caroline Wozniacki (third round) and Maria Sharapova (quarterfinals).
"I'm very happy with the way I play, I do not think it's really great tennis, what people want to see with a lot of winner punches, but Caroline is a great player," Bertens told Reuters.
The only meeting between Bertens and Kvitova came three years ago in the early stages of Wimbledon. At that time, Kvitova won easily.
