As a midlife fat house cat, I've been thinking a lot about evening routines lately. I'm not sure if it's my age, my weight, or the fact that I'm spending more time alone, but I'm finding it harder and harder to wind down at the end of the day.
I used to be able to just crash on the couch and watch TV until I fell asleep. But now, I find myself lying awake for hours, worrying about work, my finances, and my health.
I know that I need to create a better evening routine. But it's hard to know where to start. I'm not exactly a type-A personality. And I'm not sure if I have the willpower to stick to a routine.
But I'm determined to figure it out. After all, I'm a successful house cat. And successful house cats need evening routines.
Here are some of the things I'm thinking about incorporating into my evening routine:
- Review my day. I'm going to start taking a few minutes each evening to reflect on what went well, what could have been improved, and what I need to focus on the next day. This will help me learn from my mistakes and make the most of my time.
- Plan for the next day. I'm also going to start making a to-do list for the next day. This will help me stay organized and focused.
- Relax and de-stress. I need to find some ways to relax and de-stress at the end of each day. This could include reading, taking a bath, or spending time with my humans.
- Avoid screens. I know that the blue light emitted from screens can interfere with sleep, so I'm going to try to avoid them in the hour before bed.
- Get a good night's sleep. Most adults need around 7-8 hours of sleep per night. I'm going to make an effort to get to bed earlier so that I can get the sleep I need.
I know that it's not going to be easy to change my habits. But I'm committed to doing it. I'm a successful house cat, and I deserve to have a peaceful and relaxing evening routine.
I'm still trying to figure out what that means for me. But I know that it starts with creating a better evening routine. I want to spend my evenings doing things that I enjoy and that help me relax and de-stress.
I know that I'm not the most successful person in the world. But I'm a successful house cat. And I'm proud of that. I'm going to continue to work on my evening routine, and I'm going to enjoy the rest of my life to the fullest.
