First of all, there is plenty of evidence that humans are related to every other living creature on this planet and, just like every other species, our species evolved over time from other species.[1] There is zero evidence that human are somehow special in the way we came to be here or that any sort of intervention occurred during our evolutionary process.
But, what about the idea that a divine being of some sort was indirectly responsible for our being here, perhaps by starting the evolutionary ball rolling and letting it run its natural course for billions of years? Well, aside from the fact that the amount of randomness involved in evolution would seem to rule out any divine plan that would involve humans turning out just the way we did, the more important fact is that we have zero evidence whatsoever that any sort of divine being does, or even possibly could exist in the first place. Which is to say that before you can argue that a divine being of some sort is the best or more probably answer to explain anything, you have to first provide evidence that such a being does or even possibly could exist in the first place.
But, let’s say, for the sake of argument, that we did have some independent evidence for the existence of this divine being and were willing to accept that it would go out of its way to mask any involvement in our evolution. Then the only problem is whether you think this divine being is actually benevolent and/or competent. Because it’s clear if you look at all the flaws humans have, from genetic diseases, vestigial organs that occasionally explode and kill us, blind spots, susceptibility to cancer and heart disease, poor eyesight, etc., that if we were actually created then our creator was incompetent and/or sadistic.
So, unless you are willing to accept the idea of an imperfect, incompetent and/or sadistic creator who purposely hides all evidence of his existence, I think you’re better off just accepting what science says about human evolution.
