Oh, man does it feel like forever since the last blog. I have been super busy checking out the Steemit community. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading so many people's blogs in the past month. What a great bunch. I hope everyone is well, healthy and staying out of harm's way. So much is going on in the world today.
I feel so fortunate to live in the most beautiful country in the world. Despite massive forest fires and intense smoke, I still feel like I am in a perfect place. I am in the heart of the Kootenays in Nelson BC. Nelson is nestled in the middle of the Selkirk mountains within a small grouping of tiny towns. I feel honored to spend any amount of time in this natural wonder.
I recently decided to change my exercise routine and it included no indoor sports! I wanted to use my environment and all that it has to offer me in order to change up my old, boring workouts. I found an outdoor gym in our huge city park. There are so many cool things to do especially in the spring and summer. I find this time of year just perfect for an outdoor workout. Cool morning bike ride and then more sun during weight training.
Today, I started my morning with coffee and a small snack...this was a new thing for me. To work out on an emptier stomach than usual is my goal. I took my dog for a forest walk and it usually ends up being 2 or 3 kms. Just enough to warm me up for the next round. I hopped into the Jeep and headed for the trails. I did a small walk along the water to get my fix of the river. It is so beautiful with all of the boats. Today is exceptionally sunny out so it was even better walking by the water. There is something about moving water that moves the soul.
I then headed towards the rail trail for my bike ride. The views on this trail are breathtaking. It's kind of steep in some spots so you are always keeping an eye on the edge. My ride was really quiet this morning. I only ran into 2 other riders and a kitten. Oh, I also spotted some wild turkeys in the big field. They run rampant in this area. I spotted a cool group of beehives on a roof. Great idea. Save the bees!
After my ride, I decided to head to the outdoor gym to work on abs. I pulled a muscle last week doing abs so I took a break. Was a great workout today. Just so happened to be the SPCA dog walk and they went straight through the gym...everything from Great Danes to mini boxers. So fun.
I took a few minutes to look at the scenery again and decided it was time to go.
No more work out today. Time to go home and get ready for work!
Enjoy the beauty in your world today.
