I just finished a 9.265km run that lasted about 1hh:0mm:16ss !

For the next two months, and after a lot of longer distance running, the next few months I will be helping my girlfriend focus on shorter distances and speed. Today was the start of a new block of training for her moving into the Christmas/New Years period where she is looking at improving her speed over shorter distances. I think its going to be good fun and hopefully enjoyable where we are going to focus on speed, strength and technique. Its a good idea to gauge and test your progress and this training block is no exception. So we decided to kick of the training block with a 5km time trial.

Although it was a little windy, we headed down to an Auckland athletics track to make sure we had a good place to run. After an easy warm up for 2km we then got into the time trial. Kirsty smashed it making her 3rd fastest 5km time ever, which is pretty good after a 50km ultra three weeks ago and a half marathon last weekend. It was definitely where I thought should would be at and gives her a really great over the next two months to continue and hopefully improve(I know she will).

Have you two trained together before?

Also, yeah that coffee is gigantic.

Yeah, we usually do about 50% of our training together. Even though we are training for different things at times, we have some training sessions in common.
