Facebook reveals what the Russians did during the Trump campaign

In a testimony to Congress, Facebook said Rosa's clients organized 129 social networking events during the 2016 US presidential campaign, shedding more light on a campaign attributed to Russia to mislead voters.

In a written statement to US lawmakers on January 8 and published on Thursday, Facebook reported that 338,300 different accounts on the site reviewed the events and 6,2500 put signs indicating they would attend.

Facebook, the largest social networking platform in the world, said in September that the Russians had organized "many well-known events."

Facebook provided details to Congress this month in response to written questions from the Senate Intelligence Committee.

She said she found "an overlap" between online advertising by Russian agents in 2016 and President Trump's campaign, calling it unimportant.

The company said it was not in a position to prove or disprove claims of collusion between the two camps.

Trump denies complicity with Russia and described the investigations by congressional commissions and a special investigator as a blunt campaign.
