The Antitrust Authority fined Facebook with two sanctions totaling 10 million euros. The social network would have violated the Consumer Code, in particular Articles 21 and 22, causing users to register without adequately informing them about the commercial use that would have been made of the data entered by them. Thus the Agcm:
"The Authority has ascertained that Facebook, in violation of the articles 21 and 22 of the Consumer Code, misleading consumers to register on the Facebook platform, not informing them properly and immediately, during the activation of the account, the collection activity, with commercial intent, of the data provided by them, and more generally, the remuneration objectives that underlie the provision of the social network service, emphasizing only the gratuitousness ".
Fines affect Facebook Ireland Ltd. and the parent company Facebook Inc.
Hardly worth them imposing the fine -for FB it is petty cash
You are right, they need to be fined much more and forced to change their shady activity.
Fines should be proportionate to the benefits they gain by their ilegal activities - fine then E500 m per, 1 billion for both. Then they'll think twice...
Thanks for reporting it and for replying to me.
