Welcome to Facebook, where a post is judged for breach of community guidelines by its source and not its content. Censorship or preferential treatment of media output by source rather than content was an important aspect of public discourse social media promised to remedy, by giving all sources a platform. If you believed that, this story is yet another indication that you were naive. In reality, the structure of the big social media companies makes culling sources not toeing the line of the establishment easier. After all: The algorithms are not human after all, they just follow rules. Those who make the rules and decide how the algorithms will follow them are anonymous. How can anyone think they handle individual cases? So place the blame where it belongs, on the algorithms.
