All steemians should take time to watch the documentary Facebook - Cracking the code, and understand what it will mean to be mainstream and the impact that Steemit can have on the world. Facebook are tracking your usage even if you have closed your account or you are not logged in.
Facebook are part of the lives of a few billion people around the world. They are building profiles about us without specifically telling us. When you start using a brand new computer they will not know it is you, but based on their algorithms, Sharing buttons and other things they will eventually figure out is it's you without you having to log into Facebook. In my opinion this can be good but this could also be very bad. I would love to watch the documentary again as I did not give my full attention when I watched it on Sunday. Sure it is a ot of media hype, but there are some interesting facts and topics of discussion in this documentary
I have written about hyper-targeting in a few posts, but Facebook are taking hyper targeting to the next level by tracking every click we do on the web and website we visit.
Facebook is now larger than the largest country on earth

Why can this be good?
Well, let's take an example of a Facebook user changing their Status from In a relationship to Engaged . All of a sudden the user will start seeing adverts around engagement rings, wedding planners and everything that has to do with weddings. In my opinion this is a good thing as the user can actually save money in the long run.
It is proven that end-users do not usually have a problem to see their data being used by companies as long as they see real value from the company using the data.
Facebook Cracking the code documentary trailer.
The main reason for this post is that I am looking for a link to the documentary as I want to watch it again.
I could not find a link on the web yet, but here is a link to the trailer. Please share a link to the actual documentary if you are able to find one or even a link to a torrent for download in the comment section.

Maybe I could not fully understand these things but I think its a threat to privacy.
Totally agree that is a threat for privacy
ha ha ..... nice info. thanks for sharing. upvoted :)
Tx @royalmacro
They take profiling on the masses to the another level... if it is only for commercial purposes or for your buying preference I think it is a win win solution but if it is going to be abused that is where we need to be vigilant .
Great reply thanks @arnel
Soon steemit will dominate this map of social networks...

It is a great pleasure 😃
Definitely going to watch this documentary the next time me and my boyfriend are having a struggle finding a movie we both wanna see..! :)
It is a good watch 👍🏻
Facebook is a creepy company with a creepy owner. That said, people just want to socialise and think their data is useless.
Indeed
I remember a few years ago it was assumed that fb wouldn't be around for long and now it is so freakin big. So no matter if you like fb or not, I think it is quite impressive. It makes me wonder if steemit would get big similar things would happen. I hope not😨. @jacor I totally agree that I should be able to see my dossier. I mean at work i.e. I can look into my personnel file at any time...
Indeed @koalafamily :)
If Facebook or anyone for that matter is going to build a dossier on me or you, what would it look like and should we not have the right to be able to see it?
I fully agree @jacor Some transparency would be nice. UV'd
Thank you @sighmanjestah
Great post! Facebook is like a virus and a lot of times it is hard to keep it from snagging your cell phone number via 3rd party apps. It is very annoying.
Thanks for the comment @brianphobos :)
Evilbook... mmmm

Please keep me posted if you find the full documentary link! Thanks.
Will do @cindyrc. Followed you to remember :)
Thanks very much, I am now following you also:}
Facebook, cannot live with it but cannot live without it. What a dilemma.
It is a catch 22 :)
