First, this is creepy as hell. It shows the extent that facebook is monitoring its users to where it tracks everything you posted and to who and what your position was... (Privacy laws anyone?)
Next, this move is only to stifle people's views if they disagree with snopes.
You are correct; when China first announced this program, it was shocking to most freedom minded individuals but I do expect that leftists will applaud the move because they perceive the short term usefulness of opposing voices being shut down.
This again is very disturbing news about Facebook. I deleted my Facebook account 2 weeks ago. I would encourage others to do the same.

Oddly enough Steemit has multiple scores as well. In the crypto space it will be very easy to size someone up by paying attention to their votes and voting power. Blockchain just makes it so no one entity is privy to this information but rather everyone instead. What a weird balance is being proposed with crypto in general.
