This is the fifth post in a series of photos entitled Faces and Places. I am using the tag #facesandplaces in all the posts in this series, and would love for you to use this same tag to share your portraits and experiences of various cultures around the world.
These photos were taken during my 2-month trip to Nepal last year, some in the Children's Home and school where I worked to continue implementing a Montessori program, some simply in the streets of Kathmandu where there is an abundance of life and compelling moments to capture. I hope you enjoy these portraits:

Sweet neighbor lady I often found talking with friends in the street leading back to the children's home. We laughed a lot one day when she explained to me the polite Nepali way of pointing at someone: simply extend your hand upwards, or lift your chin in a quick motion and say "Ooh"!
Learning to adapt to the culture in Nepal is a lot of fun. Nepali are unbelievably welcoming and generous people - always up for a good laugh.

Lovely pictures! The first one reminds me of the baking class I once had with school kids in Varansi, India. Shining faces all around you. And all the Nepalese people I met were even nicer and smiling 24/7!

Thank you Dan. I absolutely loved it! It's one of my top favourite countries to visit. I hope you get the chance to go one day. Try to stay for at least a month (if you can)... way too many things to experience and learn. Going back there soon!
