Conspiracy theory: Pt2. The rise and fall and loss of control

The first part of my series, I touched on how the CIA laid claim to the term "conspiracy theorist" (CT from here on out). And used the newly minted term in a way to try and control ideas that didn't sit well with the main stream, "lone gunman" JFK shooter... By attaching this term to people or articles in a negitive manner, it mad people give it less credence, or to think twice about bringing it up.

All worked well for many years, those in power we're learning how to wield the full power of media, especially TeeVee.

Control of the population was still needed and progress doing it was on the rise, special units to contend with the anti Vietnam war were formed, and things were pretty much under control, the CT term was only applied a few times, watergate and the red scare didn't call for much action...

Then it happened, a event that would challenge media control of the population to the max, and almost turn the the name of shame into a badge of honor..

Sept, 11, 2001

The dust had not even settled on New York, and those little voices could be heard rising on the wind.
People who had been talking about such things quietly in coffee shops, back rows of obscure book stores, Area 51 chat rooms, had now been given a ammo crate full of questionable subjects to which consider and ponder.
Soon the internets was full of talk regarding , missing gold, BBC reporting early, too small holes, cell phone records.. You name it, it was there!

When the control ops, started firing back, trying to gain control, they came in guns blazing!! "Conspiracy theories" "skeptics" nut cases" shill, you name it ..
However this time there was no getting the horse back in the barn. The talk continued, the ideas ran wild, reports written, groups formed... Even movies made.
No longer was being called a CT a bad thing. It meant you were on the right track and "they" were trying to shut you up...and for once the CT side pushed back... Adopting monikers of their own.. " truth movement", " pilots for truth". The battle was on, and it wasn't until Sandy Hook that the casualty lists started coming in.
