It's true that you can train your child by giving him instruction, correction, guidance, telling him/her what to do & what not to do. FINE THAT'S GOOD!
BUT...
The best way to train your child(ren) is to live that kind of life you want them to live.
THAT'S THE BEST!

No matter how you pray for an orange tree to bear mango fruit, it's a waste of time & energy.
DNA must speak!
For instance, your wife is pregnant & you traveled out of the country & for 25 years you have not seen that your unborn child then, who is now 25 years of age.
Don't be surprise that the child will behaves like you.
If you like give your child a very serious instruction not to drink alcohol, but you go outside to hide & drink alcohol.
Give it time your child will be your senior in drinking alcohol.
Even in your prayers, you pray that your child should achieve more than you achieved.
Even in the instructions, corrections, teachings, guidance etc: Sometimes What you don't have, you can't give to them.
If you don't live that kind of life you want them to live, where will you get that kind of life to impact on them?
You want your child(ren) to obey you???
YOU as a child of God, do you obey God???
