Waiting on the chickens. Henhouse is ready!

Too bad I can’t claim a #diy here. We just bought the henhouse. We did dig a hole beneath it and put chickenwire in it. Hoping to build a barrier for the animals who do see out chcikens as a nice meal.

We are did seed some grass in it and on the side of it. So when we are back from our holiday we can wrlcome them. We did buy 2 Wyandotte bantam. There should have a friendly character. Pretty small chickens compared to what we did have in our previous house.

The Wyandotte bantam looks like this:

Twice the size of the Mechelse koekoe we used to have:

Looks like a lego version of it.
Didn’t buy them for the eggs but just as housepets. Bwah maybe I will talk to them but that’s about it.
We also hope that they would decrease the food leftovers from time to time.
Pretty curious how long they will survive and also what out cats will think about them.

Cheers,
Peter

Nice work. Free eggs for life!!! Happy days... Interesting indeed what the cats will think of them!!!

But small eggs, very small

Ok, would you not invest in a few hens that lay decent eggs?

That would be the number 1 attraction in keeping hens for me..

They wouldn't have enough space.

Ok fair enough 👌
