Yes I know today is not fathers day but in my heart I continue to celebrate him daily and today I make a public declaration of just how much I admire the man.
No,he is not dead yet,he is my living legend.
Growing up I knew I was loved,I felt it,I was pampered to a fault,I remembered me on his shoulders as he walked on,and the rush of joy,excitement that spread through me to be there....I remember how he will sit on his favourite chair and read the papers while an eye was set on me and my peers as we ran round and played soccer,he was proud of me then and he still is,when I fell ill he was the one that sat besides my bed and hopes the drug takes good effect.
He was my chief emotional rescuer.
As I grew up to maturity I saw the man's radical honesty and I have sometimes worried how an adult like that could be such an open book,I have feared he will severally be taking advantage of and he has been.
He is one without the ability to hold a grudge,this minute he has had a burst up with you and the next engaging you in a conversation that makes you wonder if you had a fall out at all,then you begin to wonder again where this man came from.....what planet?
I have never needed more incentive or motivation to be a better human,to live in peace with all around me,to someday be a good dad,to live honestly and freely without animosity and contempt,for I have lived a long time with a man that personifies these qualities, a man I can aspire to be like.
Admittedly,he has his faults but he is the best man I have ever met.....love you dad.
