Different Midsummer

in #family6 years ago

Midsummer is quite important and special event for us Finns. Everyone has their own traditions and mine has been the cottage or barbequing with friends. Either way, there has always been a group of people.

This year our tiny family was sick and we were not able to take part of the celebrations. Instead we spent the evening like every other evening, except @tarazkp made his delicious Pavlova (and of course posted all about it on Steemit).

This morning I called my sister, who is spending Midsummer at their own cottage, and asked how their evening was. They have a huge gang there since my sister has four kids and two of the oldest ones already have their boyfriend/girlfriend with. She was laughing how loud and lively it was when on top of their giant family also her husbands parents came by. Sauna, good food, some drinks and games. I smiled when I listened to her but at the same time felt sad that we weren’t part of that or anything else.

I’m hoping that one day we would have a big enough place or a cottage where we could invite our whole family to spend Midsummer, Christmas and so on. I really miss to have the whole family around and friends too. At the moment our apartment can’t really handle too many people at once.

So Steemit, can you help me please.

Hugs, Momone

That sounds so nice. I remember huge family gatherings at my grandmother's place over Christmas and easter. A house filled with festivities and laughter, it really lifts the spirits.
