Siblings rivalry

in #family6 years ago

No, I am not talking about that cute fight for a toy or ' who does mommy love more' kind of debate. Siblings rivalry is cute when kids are young, but as they grow up, things get really nasty. No, I am still not talking about the rivalry that siblings share during their teenage years, you'll have to look past 2 more decades.

Fights between siblings doesn't stop when they grow up. I have seen my mom fight with her sisters for bizarre reasons. The eldest sister is a rich influential lady while the second one is struggling real hard to meet ends meet. Does the elder one help? Absolutely no. She feels that everyone should find their own stand rather than take the help of someone. Well, I would go with her if my aunt was around 30 years old, but my aunt is 60 years old now. What are siblings for.

Well, this is not the only case that pains my heart. My mother in law are a total of 9 siblings and they are divided into two parties just because they all inherited a small piece of land from their parents. The three sons and 6 daughters fought for their rights over a piece of land where the sons were doing their business. The well settled daughters, who were all in their early 60's fought for their rights that earned them 1 lakh each and made their brothers lose their livelihood.

The brothers and sisters are not on good terms now. They lost their beautiful relationship just for a lakh rupees. Isn't that crazy. I would understand the fight if it was for a crore or half, but it was all to make their brothers jobless.

I guess siblings cannot see their brothers or sisters rising above them or being happy. Jealousy spoils such lovely relations.

Sort:

in my place, men and women have different divisions of each inheritance left by their parents. men get twice the share of women, because men have more dependents than women.
and women don't complain that way

Here in India it is not so, we all get equal share from our parents property if they fail to make a legal will. Sisters usually let go their share if they have no financial troubles and their brothers need it to make a livelihood, but sadly not a have the same opinion.

conflicts between family members often occur, this is because they don't get along and filter selfishness. and I often see in Indian films and dramas, because mostly jealous and want to be in power, so that it happens.
