Hi everybody!
Its been awhile since my last post here. I have been busy. Enjoying my sweet time in my hometown with my big happy family. (Most times)
The children having fun in front of the house.
I left the hustle n bustle of city life to just enjoy a peaceful n quiet kampung life for a week. (not so quiet because it was always filled with laughter... lots of them!.. hehe)
Look at the clouds. It was basically like that everyday.
And this time, the weather was surprisingly pleasant despite the rainy days and the cold.
It was seriously cold! Its the monsoon season on the east coast of Malaysia. We rarely got the chance to be back home during this season. So it was kind of nice to come home to this kind of weather once in a while. Usually it was always hot and humid. Not a very good situation to sit around and enjoy a cup of coffee!..hehe!
This time around it was laid back and leisurely. Everything we did was fun!
The còoking.
The eating.
The coffee a.k.a nescafe.
The midnight snack.
The midnight chat.
The family jokes.
The laughter.
You name it! .... its the fun things that we do whenever families get together.
Dont get me wrong! We still enjoy the time spent even if its hot and humid... hehe!
The big family dinner.
Part of our adhoc project. My brother and my husband did this. Nice huh? Needs more fish though...
Part of the our plans while in kampung was to do some house cleaning in preparation for our brother getting married next year.
There were lots of things to do since our parents' house is considered big for a kampung house. There were lots of stuff to be cleared and rearrange.
This house is mostly built on woods. It is old... maybe more than 50 years old. It has gone through so many renovations which makes it too big for our parents to handle. Some part of the house were left unattended.
The legenday gate... hehe!
My parents... especially my mom only managed to do so much in a big house. Which left us to do as much as we can while we are back home.
Its not an easy task. There are too many stuff in the house that needs to be cleared. Old weathered furnitures, books, broken things , old clothes... which have to go through my parents first before we can throw it all away... hehe! They have strong attachment to everything in the house! Dont we all? Its hard to part with something that we own. But we managed to get rid of some of the things without any hastle and a few we did it discreetly.... hehe!
The kitchen yard. My mom's lair. Her garden
It took us basically days to get some of the things done. A lot of stuff has been cleared thus helped us to rearrange some of the furnitures and bedrooms accordingly.
We are satisfied with what we have achieved so far. But there are still a lot of stuff to do. Hopefully our parents and our two sisters staying in the house can continue on the work that we have started.
We found a freaking ghecko in the house while cleaning.... argggghhhh!
Well... our one week stay was over today. Dreaded the moment of saying good bye. It was always the hardest thing to do... huhu.
I am going to miss them dearly!
Dreading the goodbyes... 😢😢😢

@tatiariff, seeing your kampung makes me miss Indonesia.
I lived there for 11 years. 4 of my 5 kids were born there. It become home to us. Saya balik kampung di AS setahun yg lalu. I am American, but I have changed.
I look the same on the outside, but I am different on the inside.
Thanks for sharing.
Hi @sumatranate
