Excellent subject - and I cannot do merit to this matter here and now (using an iPhone), spent a fair amour of time in the UK and South Africa...their class systems, structure reeked with visitations and horrors - "Are there no prisons, the workhouses: are they still in good order?..Dickensian"
Edited: Much of the social system in the UK simply does not work. Harassed and demoralized social workers complained of over burden case loads. Bureaucrats make decisions about child welfare and instances without any regard for the pertinent facts of the family, taking a child from birth parents and placing them with someone who is either is a threat or simply does not care or both; children are placed in harm’s way and many perish. Another example the fire at Grenfell Tower. That was not a random event, it was a disaster waiting to happen..national health service , Job Centre, Council Housing and the millions on the dole or just sknit.. i.e. Benefits street.
Austerity measures, and sterile privatization schemes to out-sourcing entities not vetted for basic compliance to the standard of performance and care, thrives, due to rampant corruption (bribes and kick-backs to parliament cronyism). And the administration by wholly incompetent and uncaring firms and administrators. Government oversight failing to monitor (sugarcoat the surface features for votes) the dire risks to children and their families and which meant that thousands of children across Britain have suffered terrible sexual abuses (and worse even still the gangs); families destroyed (Rotherham affairs- much reported / investigative 'telly" that ugly affair). In South Africa far dire. But I’ll save that for another time save this: All that the British brought to that region still haunts them to this very day, The social class system, the haves, the have not’s and the invisible (millions) all mis-managed and abused by wanton corruption. Another day.
George Orwell couldn't have put it better!
